Abraham Kryger graduated from the University of Manitoba as a dentist in 1969 and went on to earn his medical degree in 1973. For over 25 years he has been a pioneer in the field of hormone replacement, with a special focus on wellness medicine and andrology (hormones for men) . Dr. Kryger is currently a board-certified Family Practitioner and a Preventive Medicine specialist. Early in his training, Dr. Kryger noticed that men and women who maintained normal hormone levels throughout their lives, looked and functioned better, than those who did not.
In 1998, Dr. Kryger developed a topical hormone cream in response to the needs of a patient who was rendered deficient in all hormones regulated by his pituitary gland, located in the center of the brain. Following this success, Dr. Kryger conducted clinical trials utilizing a transdermal hormonal delivery system to treat men with testosterone deficiencies. In the course of these studies, he identified many men in their early 30s seeking hormone therapy because their sex drive was reduced or even non-existent. Many stated that they felt like old men.... and lab tests showed their testosterone levels had dropped prematurely. The doctor wondered why.
In searching for the cause of this accelerating problem, Dr. Kryger focused specifically on a possible environmental cause. The revelation in January 2001 that dioxins had been identified as carcinogins (cancer-causing agents) triggered a search for other possible problems related to dioxins. Dr. Kryger's findings will be reported in a pending article, Testosterone and PCBs .
Dr. Kryger has a full-time medical practice in Monterey, California focusing on Men's Health and manages the websites WellnessMD.com and Testocreme.com where men and women can get current, practical information on bioidentical hormone replacement, preventive medicine and hormone balancing techniques.
In July 2001, Dr. Kryger formed Testocreme® LLC, which has patented a topical 10% testosterone cream. Details of this revolutionary treatment for men are available at Testocreme.com. Recently, the company has also developed a unique hormone therapy for women, and is currently seeking FDA approval to bring these exciting new products to market.
In September 2004, Dr. Kryger wrote and published his first book on hormone therapy and the relationship between sexual drive and hormones. Listen To YOUR Hormones: A Doctor's Guide to Sex, Love and Long Life, is easy to read, well referenced and contains a glossary and online resources for those who wish to learn more about hormones and their health. This book will appeal to a wide audience. It is useful for medical professionals, scientific researchers, and lay persons who are concerned about the epidemic of hormone deficiency in American. Successfully combining scientific rigor with a commendably clear writing style, his book achieves its purpose of informing readers of the critical influence hormones have on the quality of their lives.
